Walnut Buttery Syrup

19 Jan

  • 2 Tb unsalted butter
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Heat a 10″ skillet over medium heat. Add butter,, once it is melted add walnuts and sprinkle with sugar. Cook over medium heat, between 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently until the nuts become fragrant and start to caramelize. Turn the heat down to low, stir in the maple syrup, cinnamon and salt. Still stirring cook for another 5 minutes. Transfer to a serving bowl.

Tips: Trying substituting the walnuts with pecans…or try using 1/2 cup walnuts and 1/2 cup pecans. When you can always use real maple syrup, you will be so surprised at the taste difference, its fabulous.

Serve over pancakes, waffles and ice cream.
