Homemade Pizza Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1 @ 15 oz can of tomato sauce
  • 1/2 a 6oz can of tomato paste
  • 1/4 white onion, finely grated
  • 1 Tb fresh basil, minced
  • 1/2 tsp fresh oregano, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh parsley, minced
  • 1/4 tsp grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 1/4 tsp sugar

Whisk all the ingredients fully blended. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before using or freeze immediately. The sauce can remain in the refrigerator for a maximum of 48 hours, anything longer than that it will need to be discarded. I suggest refrigerating the amount you will need and freezing the remaining amount. I do not recommend cooking pizza sauce as you run the risk of scorching or slightly scorching the sauce which will ruin it.

Suggestions: In addition to using this sauce for pizza, use it as a dipping sauce for breadstick, strombolis, calzones or add it to your jarred spaghetti sauce to brighten the flavor up.
