Regular & Sweet Potato Chips

19 Apr

These homemade potato chips are just wonderful. Both on their own rights is worth making, but I love to use the combination of Russet Potatoes and Sweet Potatoes.

Potato Chips Ingredients:

  • 1 russet or baking potato, peeled
  • 1 Tb Olive Oil
  • 1/4 tsp garlic salt (Paleo followers use unrefined sea salt)
  • a dash of ground black pepper

Sweet Potato Chips Ingredients:

  • 1 sweet potatoes, peeled
  • 1 Tb Olive Oil
  • 1/2 tsp garlic salt (Paleo followers use unrefined sea salt)
  • 1/8 cayenne pepper

Preheat oven to 375 and line a couple of rimmed baking sheets with parchment paper.

Slice both types of potatoes very thin. Rinse the slices with cold water, drain, pat dry with paper towel. For each recipe combine the Olive oil and spices, then toss the potatoes in the mixture. Place the slices on the prepared baking sheets, but don’t layer them. You may need to bake them in batches. Bake for 12 minutes, flip them over and bake another 12 minutes. If they don’t crisp up entirely, broil for a couple of minutes after the baking process. Let them cool a bit on a wire rack.

Suggestions:  We love to eat these chips with my “Spiced Sour Cream” recipe.

These sound yum! I’ve made sweet potato fries, but never chips. I will definitely try. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
