Cherry Nut Syrup

12 Jun

  • 2 Tb butter
  • 1/3 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/3 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1 Tb Organic Coconut Palm Sugar
  • A good handful of  fresh cherries, pitted and diced
  • 1 cup  Organic Maple Syrup

Heat a medium skillet over medium heat. Add butter, once it is melted add walnuts and pecans. Saute until they become fragrant, about 7 minutes. Sprinkle with the Coconut Palm Sugar and add the cherries. Stir well, reduce heat to low, add the maple syrup and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Turn off heat, the mixture can rest in the skillet on the burner until ready to serve.

Tips:  For that wonderful wintery feeling try adding a sprinkle of cinnamon or allspice. If you’re not Paleo or don’t have access to Organic Coconut Palm Sugar you can always substitute dark brown sugar for this ingredient. Organic Maple Syrup just taste so much better than the commercial style. I suggest finding some, it’s fantastic. I just love serving this flavorful syrup over a bowl of fresh fruit or over my “Very Berry Organic Homemade Ice Cream.
