The Reality Blog Award

Reality Blog Award

WhooHoo, I was nominated for another blogging award.

Thank you so much Cindy Knoke.

I am so glad she found me because I am falling in love with her blog. It’s packed full of wonderful posts. Here’s just a few of her topics that I thoroughly enjoy. Recipes, Gardening, Photos, Travel and Design. If you’re not already a fan of her blog please stop by it and enjoy what you have stumbled upon. You can find her at

As with other blog awards this one too has a few rules. Make sure you have “Thanked the person who nominated you” “Create a link to their blog within your post or blog” “Answer 5 questions” “Nominate 20 blogs you follow” “Create 5 questions for your nominees to answer”

Here’s the questions presented to me:

1. If you could change one thing what would you change? I would have spent more time cooking and enjoying meals with my son while raising him, rather than putting my priority on my career.
2. It you could repeat an age, what would it be? Early 30’s. I just loved coaching and watching my son play football and baseball back at that time. On top of that I was in great shape back then. Abundance of energy.
3. What one thing really scares you? Heights, especially bridges over large bodies of water.
4. What is one dream you have not completed, and do you think you’ll be able to complete it? Opening my own business. Maybe a small restaurant again or a small kitchen gadget and cooking lesson type of store. But the longer I take to pull the trigger the less energy I have for all of those hours. So, I’m thinking I won’t complete this dream at this time. No worries though, I have already had my own pizzeria and marketing business.
5. If you could be someone else for one day, who would it be? Tom Landry, how I admired that coach.

Now for the 20 nominees listed in no particular order:

Wow, those are my nominees for this blog award now here is the question to be answered.

  •  Tell us 5 things about yourself, your life and/or your blogging experience that you have not told or blogged as of today.

Liebster Award

Liebster Blog Award

Oh my gosh, Thank you so much Teresa for your generous nomination of the Liebster Blog Award.  Anyone who follows or just views my blog needs to visit Teresa’s blog. It is full of great recipes, techniques, step by steps and inspiration. I never thought about developing a blog friendship on this journey, but I don’t know what I would do without her blog or without her opinions on my recipes. You can find her lovely blog at

Thank you so much Teresa for your inspiration and internet friendship.

There are 5 rules for this blog award and here they are:

  1. Visit and thank the blogger who nominated you.
  2. Acknowledge that blogger on your blog and link back to them.
  3. Answer the 11 questions proposed by the person who nominated you.
  4. Select 11 people or blogs for the award.
  5. Pose 11 new questions to the new nominees.

Here are the 11 questions that were asked of me.

1. When did you first start cooking? I starting cooking in a 7th grade cooking class and haven’t stop since.

2. What would your “last” meal be? A sweet Maine Lobster

3. What is your favorite form of exercise and how often do you do it? Gardening, not enough. I would love to be able to garden everyday.

4. Is there anything you would really like to learn how to cook that you have not made before? Italian Homemade Pastas

5. What is your favorite hobby and how did you get started doing it? Fly-fishing….  I was watching the movie “A River Runs Through It” with Mark. His first time seeing this movie, one of my numerous times watching it. I made a comment to Mark that I would love to learn how to fly fish just like Brad Pitt in the movie. A few months later on my birthday he surprised me with a Fly Fishing vacation in the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee complete with an instructional guide of my own for 2 days. I was hooked. For me, while fly fishing, it’s the closest I feel to God.

6. If you were able to cook a meal for ANY person in the world, who would that special person or family be? My Grandmother, she has passed and I would have loved to share many more meals with her. She never got to see me at peace with my life.

7. What is one of your worst cooking disasters? Explain what happened. I was about 16 and my father had gone deep-sea fishing with the Rotary Club. He had bragged about what a wonderful cook I was and how he was sure I could make a wonderful meal with the mackerel he had caught and was bringing home. Upon receipt of all that fresh mackerel I proceeded to dice them up, toss them with butter, garlic and parsley. Wrap them in foil and steam them in the oven. We all sat down to dinner, everyone with their very own foil package to open and enjoy. I was devastated to find that mackerel has many tiny bones and I had just dice all of them so fine that no one could eat even a bite of the steamed fish. We had to throw it all out. Oops!  But I did have a chocolate mouse prepared for dessert.

8. What is the last thing you can ever imagine yourself cooking or trying out as a new recipe? Anything with brains, feet or tongue.

9. What do you hope to accomplish through your blog? I’m trying to compile my recipes so that I create a cookbook to share with my son, niece, family members and friends.

10. If you had unlimited funds, describe your dream kitchen. I am in love with Paula Deen’s kitchen….I would love to have one just like it, complete with the deep fryers.

11. If you were to host a dinner party in your home and you could invite anyone in the world, name 5 people you don’t currently know that you would want to get to know and why. 1. Tom Landry,I so admired him as a coach and christian when I was young.  2. Emmit Smith, seems to be so down to earth and oh what an athlete. I would love to pick his brain on skills and techniques of football. 3. My Grandfather on my mother side, He passed when I was very young. I would love to hear his life’s stories. 4. Martin Luther King, I want to hear more about his vision for our country, his life experiences and his relationship with the Lord. 5. Abraham Lincoln, I would be honored to listen to anything this wonderfully gentle man had to say.

Thanks Teresa for Nominating Me for the Beautiful Blogger Award

Thank you so much Teresa for nominating my blog for  a “Beautiful Blogger Award”. Sorry it has taken me so long to reply and accept the nomination. I love that you are enjoying my recipe blog.

To my followers you should check out Teresa’s blog at  It’s a wonderfully written blog. Full of great information and photos. Not only does she offer incredible recipes but is also very informative on nutrition and health.

So, lets see the rules say I should share 7 bits of information that I haven’t shared before. Hmmm…that’s a bit uncomfortable, but what the heck it makes life interesting, doesn’t it?

  1. I coached my son’s football and baseball teams for many years. Why? So that I could be part of his life’s journey in as many ways as possible.
  2. Sometimes I am brought to tears by the way God has guided me to where I am today and the life he has provided for me.
  3. One of my favorite movies is “Polly Anna” from Disney. I always wanted to find the little town of Harrington “the Glad Town” and live there. (I think I might have found it out here with Mark)
  4. I am energetic, but not by choice. I would rather be lazy.
  5. I am loud and humorous because I am shy.
  6. Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, the cheapest box, is one of my favorite foods of all time.
  7. I am afraid to drive over bridges, but I smile anyways.

In return for this nomination and acceptance of this gracious award I would like to pay it forward to 7 bloggers that I truly enjoy and visit on a regular basis. (also part of the rules)

The Beautiful Blogger Award is a Pay it Forward type of award. You thank the person that nominated you by placing a link within your post to their blog. You nominate 7 bloggers you follow for the award. You then post 7 things about yourself that many may not know about you or things that will help people get to know you. Then finally you add the award image to your blog. How cool is that? And it’s a lot of fun also.

Thank you so much for following my blog & the Illuminating Blogger Award

Just recently I was awarded the “Illuminating Blogger Award” from “Food Stories Blog” Check out her blog it’s truly fun to visit and what a great variety in content. (

Receiving this notification was the highlight of my day, thank you so very much. It means a lot to me that people are enjoying my recipes for just good ole homecooking.

Not only do I want to thank “Food Stories Blog” but also take this opportunity to thank all of you that follow my recipe blog. I am truly thrilled to have over 50 of you following my blog on word press and over 50 more following along through facebook. Since March people representing 59 countries have viewed one or more of my recipes. You all have made the idea of sharing my recipes from my kitchen a wonderful experience Thank you.

As with other awards there are a couple of rules I am expected to follow when accepting this award. I need to share something random about myself and nominate a minimum of 5 blogs I follow for the award. (Paying it forward, I love that)

Hmmmm….something random…. so here it is:

Bugs are drawn to me like bees to a honey hive. Seriously, Mark and I can be outside in the same place, same time of day and I get completely eaten up and he doesn’t get bit at all. Even if I am wearing a bug be gone bracelet or have bug repellant on. Go figure. I’ve always said I could be sweet, but I’m not that sugary.

Now onto the business of this award. I am requested to nominate at least 5 bloggers I follow with this award. Now that’s tough, only five. Well here I go, in no particular order, 6 blogs I follow and find to be very Illuminating. I hope my followers will enjoy checking these blogs out.

“Acorn in my Kitchen” @…

“Whole Foodies” @…

“Jujus Kitchen” @

“Back Road Journal” @

“Persian Cuisine from Javaneh’s Kitchen” @

“Spaetzel in Scotland” @

Those of you nominated can find the rules to accepting this award @ (   It’s basically a pay it forward type of award. What better way to get your blog out there while making new friends.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week enjoying Good Ole Homecooking with friends and family.

Versatile Blogger Award….Who Me? Thank you so much Amy!

First of all I have to say Thank you so much Amy for nominating my recipe blog. It truly means so much to me. Amy has a blog I have been following and enjoying from almost the beginning of venturing into this world of blogs. If you haven’t checked it out you must. You can find her at   Please stop by and see everything she has to offer.

It’s taken me over a week to figure out what all this is about, slow learner I guess so now I am obligated to follow the rules.  There are a few blogs I would like to nominate for this award….paying it forward. The following nominees are in no particular order, but I enjoy these blogs very much and make time to follower them on a regular basis. You can find links to their blogs on my sidebar.

The nominees are:

  1. Going Dutch @
  2. A Modern Christian Woman @
  3. While Chasing Kids @
  4. Switters B & Fly Fishing @
  5. How Small a Trout @
  6. Classic Fry Sweden @
  7. Bucket List Publications @
  8. Joe Graff’s Recipe Blog @
  9. Cookies & Beans @
  10. Frugal Feeding @

Now one reason it took me a bit to get this posted is I didn’t realize that when your nominated you are actually awarded the honor of the Versatile Blogger Award, then you pay if forward. So Nominees don’t forget to pay it forward and follow the “Versatile Blogger” Award rules which you can find at

Now I am requested to tell 7 things about myself that you don’t know or I’m thinking I would rather you didn’t know.

  1. I owned, operated and lost a restaurant once….and yet I still dream of opening another one. CRAZY!
  2. Cooking is an obsession for me, a stress reliever for me and pure enjoyment for me.
  3. I once told my boyfriend that I wanted to learn to fly fish like Brad Pitt. He took me seriously and book lessons for my birthday. I’ve been fly fishing ever since and it too has become an obsession.
  4. I love to bird watch from our kitchen table…well actually I just love looking out from the kitchen table. I can pass many hours just sitting there watching all of the wild life out on the deck and in the woods.
  5. I used to be an extremely talented dancer, but you would never know that if you have watched me get of the ground after sitting Indian style. (No grace of any kind nowadays)
  6. I once sang on a Christmas album and was part of an elite choir group…but after many years of coaching my son in football and baseball, and yes I said coaching not watching….my voice is only good for yelling now. Can’t sing a lick anymore.
  7. I once applied for a job with Coach Tom Landry….not as his secretary, but as a coach. It was priceless to receive a letter of regrets from him. I knew I wouldn’t get in, but I was in hopes he would see my resume…he did and replied.

So I think I have followed all the rules in regards to being nominated and receiving the “Versatile Blogger Award”. If I missed something please let me know. WhooHoo, Thanks again Amy for nominated me, now I am off to cook something delicious so I can blog about it. Oh and trying to figure out how to put this award image on my sidebar…that could take me weeks to figure out.
